The Jewish Community of Rhodes
An exhibition of the Jewish Museum of Greece and the Jewish Community of Rhodes
The exhibition consists of three main areas: history, religious tradition, and everyday life, presented on exhibition boards. There are bilingual texts to accompany and explain the host of photographs, some of which are unpublished. The exhibition tries to shed light on as many aspects of the life of the people as possible - their faith, activities and creativity, so as to produce a clear image of the past and present of the Jews of Rhodes, one of the most beautiful and significant island cities of Greece. It is dedicated to the memory of the people of Rhodes who were killed in WWII and in honor of all those who survived.

Exhibition catalogs are available at the Paideia Center.

The Nazi occupation still hovers over Greece as one of the greatest tragedies that ever befell its people. The Holocaust claimed six million Jewish victims in Europe, among them over 67,000 Greek Jews – 87% of the Jewish population of Greece, statistically the highest percentage of Jewish loss of any officially occupied country.
